Dr John Prickett

John is a Specialist Pain Management Physician and SpecialistAnaesthetist. John has over 18 years of experience in Anaesthesia both inthe Newcastle and Hunter Valley regions as well as the United Kingdom.

Originally from Perth having gained his medical degree fromthe University of Western Australia, he travelled to the United Kingdom tostudy Anaesthesia attaining specialist qualifications in both the UnitedKingdom and Ireland.

On return to Australia and settling in the Hunter area headded the Australian anaesthetic fellowship.

In 2010 John completed Masters of Medicine (Pain Management )at the University of Sydney NSW. John has been assessing and helping patientswith chronic pain since 2008.

John’s aims are to facilitate the development of anindividualized pain self management process, where the patient feels supported,listened to and in control of the process, within a multidisciplinaryframework.

John sees patients in Charlestown, Maitland and Gosford. Johnalso sees patients in hospital for acute and chronic pain problems upon requestfrom the treating hospital doctor. John continues to foster close links with Royal North Shore Hospital and theirhigh Intensity pain management program.

Development of audit and ongoing research in advancing painmanagement approaches are key areas for all Specialists at the practice.
